Dating someone new means that you're going to meet a bunch of people you've never met. I'm just oh so lucky that David has a million friends and I'm constantly stuck in awkward situations where I know absolutely no one except him.
Usually, I'm introduced to everyone. I try so hard to remember the names of the people I just met 3 seconds ago. Then there's the uncomfortable small talk. This is usually the point when I sip my drink a little quicker than usual. Then comes random stories about my boyfriend that I probably didn't want to hear. This is usually the point that I'm secretly wishing someone would order shots. Somewhere after all of this comes the question, "So, how did you guys meet?" This is the point that David and I look at each other, laugh and decide who's going to answer the question. Usually I let him answer. His answer is always the same... "candy crush!"
People laugh, unsure if it's a joke or if we really are nerdy gamers who connected from an addicting game. Then David goes on to tell them that he was stuck on a level and I kept sending him lives and he thought I was really cute so he sent me a Facebook message. At this point people will ask how we really met. Then theres a pause and eventually I break the silence and tell them we met at a party years ago, candy crush is just how we "reconnected".
It's even more awkward when my boss tells me he saw my ex and that my ex told him all about how I met David through him because they were friends. No worries, they really weren't friends they just shared mutual friends. Which makes it really weird when we hang out with those mutual friends.
It's a small world..
But, an awesome story of how we meet doesn't matter. All that really matters is happiness. I'm just going to enjoy it.
Nice! I love good "how you met" stories like this.
